Here is a quick photo update of the garden. This HUGE basket is just what I picked today!
The full size tomatoes are finally getting ripe. We have been eating the cherry and small yellow pear tomatoes for a couple weeks now.
Zucchini and squash are also still coming along. Needless to say we’ve been eating a lot of them too. I also made three loaves of zucchini bread Sunday night! This weekend will be a huge batch of zucchini tots to freeze. Should time ever allow…aka Josh not need my help with his garage, I may even find some time to can. Or not, time will tell!
Do you have a garden? How is it coming along?
Guess what’s for dinner here tonight? Pasta with homemade tomato sauce. Imagine that! Lunch was salad with lots of tomatoes and cucumbers. Breakfast was scrambled eggs with tomatoes. See a theme?!
We just got a greenhouse this summer and have planted some tomato seeds actually! Never seen a yellow pear tomato before though, I am assuming they are as tasty as they look! π

The yellow pear tomatoes are indeed yummy! The kids love them too, especially their shape.
lovely and yum π I bought my first and only plant just today. Usually like to plant a full garden, but ran out of time and steam this year. But I bought a mint starter at a farmers’ market today–can’t have a mojito without mint!
Mint is always needed, especially for mojitos! I even got a mojito mint plant this year. I use my mint quite a bit, with blackberries, mangoes, in drinks, as a garnish,,so many possibilities. The garden certainly dies take time, I can see how you didn’t get to planting one this year. Maybe next year. At least you have good farmer’s markets, my selection is a little more limited.
I had a pot of mojito mint last year π
Ooooooooh im so jealous. I can kill plants just by being near them. π¦
Too funny! Weather has been a minor issue, the storms we have been having are causing my plants to droop severely. I have two tomato plants that won’t stay up, they need a tree trunk to hold them! Of course part of the problem may be that they have melons hanging through their cages!
Well I just killed a basil plant just by bringing it home from Home Depot. π¦
All of this look AMAZING Gretchen!!! Enjoy!!! π
I will! Thanks. Today was caprese salad for lunch today, BLT tonight.
Overwhelming garden (and climate) envy!
Don’t envy our climate…it is insanely hot and humid! I’ll send you virtual garden goodies…my garden runneth over.
Oh wow, lots of tomatoes, are those large ones the Brandywine? Man those would make a nice tomato sandwich!!
I dont really like tomatoes, but tomato sauce made with homegrown tomatoes is the best! Ive downsized my roofgarden this year, only squash, rhubarb, micro-tomatoes and herbs. Rhubarb season is over, but the squash has just got going and also will play a big part in our meals the next weeks π take care
We certainly had our share of squash and zucchini too! It is near the end, though I did plant a few more so we will have another wave in a few weeks. I will make more sauce with the various cherry tomatoes today, just picked a large basket full this morning.
