This month I can truly say time flew by, I haven’t even posted anything since the last In My Kitchen post. May was insanely busy with end of school year activities, field trips, helping with testing at school, promotion ceremonies and then just the usual craziness that is life.
Now I’m trying to adjust to our new summer schedule and will attempt to get better about posting. Part of our schedule issues now are time to cook and photograph. Many days we don’t get home until it’s time for a late lunch. Then I’m lucky if I have time or energy to cook and get nice photos. This month we have a dark theme for IMK, the only time I had to photograph was during a dark and dreary stormy day! In the meantime here is an In My Kitchen post, I’m linking with Sherry over at Sherry’s Pickings for this monthly linkup.
Despite being insanely busy I did manage to still cook most meals and spend plenty of time in the kitchen. First off we have my Mother’s Day gifts. Josh went on a tray shopping binge, he knows me so well. The first one has already been used often, it’s the ideal size for a cup of tea and snack or breakfast by myself.
This tray is perfect for crackers or bread on carpet picnic night. Or should I bake cookies anytime soon I can see it filled to overflowing with yummy cookies.
And this tray is a lovely meat tray. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but can’t wait.
I also got some new ceramics. I was feeling sick one day and may have done a little shopping on Etsy. These are all from Ayse Sakarcan Ceramics. The stacked plates are absolutely gorgeous and I can’t say enough good things about them!
This ceramic tray is also fantastic. We’ve already used it for zucchini muffins at breakfast time several mornings!
Last month my instagram cookbook club was cooking from Dinner: Changing the Game by Melissa Clark. It was a wonderful cookbook that I will continue to use extremely often. We loved absolutely everything we made from this book.
For many people an impulse purchase at the checkout stand would be a candy bar or a cold drink. For me it was this magazine!! Josh sent me to Lowe’s to get supplies for a Cub Scout project and this magazine just jumped into my hands! I haven’t made anything from it yet but look forward to trying some recipes out.
Finally we have garden bounty. The zucchini glut has started and we’ve been eating it every possible way!! The boys love it most as zucchini bread or muffins, no big surprise there!
That sums up what’s been going on in our kitchen. It’s also the blog’s anniversary now so I’m really hoping to get a new post up soon. Summer swim practices are killing me and what little schedule I ever had! Don’t forget to check out everyone else’s posts around the world.
All of your produce looks so good, I love seeing your boys being involved with all those freshly grown vegetables 🙂
The boys live helping iin the garden! Picking carrots is their favorite, and nibbling on chives while playi by outside!
How wonderful! What a great food education they’re getting 🙂
Those stacking ceramic plates in one colour tones are gorgeous Gretchen as is the bounty from your garden..
The stacked ceramic plates are gorgeous and versatile. We are definitely enjoying the garden bounty. Lots of green tomatoes now and tons of spaghetti squash waiting to ripen.
Thanks for joining in this month Gretchen. Love all your fresh garden produce. How marvellous. And your ceramics are very nice. Love that platter. Hasn’t this year just flown by? Xmas will be here soon. 🙂
Thanks for hosting! It’s been such a crazy year, I don’t know how time moves so quickly. I don’t even ant to think about how soon Christmas I’ll be here!
So good see your latest kitchen additions Gretchen – although where do you store everything!? Do you have a ‘one in one out’ policy? 😄
Storage is just now starting to be an issue! I may have to go through and get rid a few things I don’t use often enough.
I have that cookbook as well, it is definitely a keeper. What a lovely blue color that try is, food would be beautiful on it. And I like the shapes of those ceramic dishes, such fun.
Thank you Liz. I really enjoy that cookbook and will continue to use it often. The new ceramic plates are so fun. They are relatively small but deep.
I love zucchini! Have loads of good zucchini recipes if you need ideas.
I’ll check it out. I also started dehydrating some of the zucchini, we have so much.
Oooh dehydrated zucchini, that sounds interesting!
I love the zucchini photos. They look awesome in those baskets.
Seems so long ago, now that garden is empty and I’m missing all the zucchini!
