I can almost taste the tomatoes! We tied the plants up a couple weekends ago and it is smelling like tomato plants. They have such a distinct smell, I just love it! There are plenty of blossoms and even some baby tomatoes. The cherry tomatoes seem to be the first to grow.
This year we planted several varieties. We have gold nugget (cherry), yellow pear (cherry), zebra (cherry hybrid), gold medal (heirloom), green zebra (heirloom) and San Marzano. It is a mix of little tomatoes and bigger tomatoes.
The yellow squash and zucchini are also doing quite well. No sign of squash bugs, yet.
We also have some delicious Napa cabbage, or Chinese cabbage. We have had several salads already as well as using it for cabbage wraps. The kids go wild when they found out it is assemble your own wrap dinner night!
Here is the kohlrabi…
And the red cabbage starting to form…
And some blossoms on the melon plants…
How could we forget the herbs. After all they enhance the flavor of so many dishes, and drinks too!
I love the kohlrabi, squash blossoms (so good fried in the oven… MMM) and beautiful basil for your pesto. 🙂
I plan on frying the squash blossoms. So pretty and tasty!
Gretchen everything looks Fantastic!!! My Dad would be so Jealous!!! He only has lettuce, spinach and onions are going to be ready soon!! He has had problems with his tomatoes plants, our weather isn’t the greatest 🙂
We had a hail storm over the weekend while we were out of town. Luckily the plants survived, only a little branch or two down on the tomato plants.
Your garden looks great…I believe that you will be having a great gardening year.
I am counting on it!
Everything is coming along nicely. Nice pictures.
I know that tomato smell. It’s usually so distinct you can’t confuse it with anything. I don’t know too many tomato varieties but you certainly have a lot and I love the idea of tomato alley…Omg that Napa cabbage looks so luscious and green. I can imagine making a wrap. It must be delicious. I hope you’ll be making some pesto with the basil. It looks fresh too!
Pesto is coming soon I hope. I love to put it on zucchini noodles! The Napa cabbage was fabulous. We still have some so another salad is in the works.
