Finally a new recipe! I didn’t really intend to but somehow took a holiday break. With the boys home and Josh working insane hours it just wasn’t possible to photograph and blog what we cooked and baked. But it’s a new year and we’re getting back on track.
Somehow I’ve noticed that the veggie section of my recipes is extremely sparse. It certainly isn’t because we don’t eat many veggies, if anything we eat a lot of veggies.
I have accepted a challenge from the people over at Man Crates. They are a company that makes gifts ideal for men, though I know I wouldn’t mind some of them myself either.
They have a variety of gift packages including themes for the griller, the athlete, the beer enthusiast and so many more options. The best part, the gifts are placed in a crate that the recipient has to pry open. No more boring gifts for the men in your life. The timing is right, my husband turns 40 later this month…a custom over the hill package is tempting!
MAN CRATES MANIFESTO
We say ‘no’ to ugly neckties, cologne samplers and executive trinkets. We don’t save wrapping paper, we don’t do ribbons.
We ship bragworthy gifts for guys. Gifts that you can’t wait to arrive because you know the recipient will love opening them.
Gifts that people gather round at the office, people following the sounds of wood being torn from wood by the included, laser-engraved crowbar.
We are Man Crates, and we deliver awesome gifts for men.
We survived our first week of swim lessons! My best laid plans were not a total success. I packed dinner for the boys to eat at the gym, however, Jack was the only one that actually ate. Seems Ewan and Sean were too busy glued to the television in the babysitting room to bother with dinner. I wonder why they complained about being hungry after lessons?! Continue reading →
The boys are enjoying watching all our seedlings grow! They know these will turn into plants that will grow in our garden. If you want your children to eat well I highly recommend you plant some vegetables and let the kids watch things grow. Let them help you in the kitchen. I know, they get in the way and slow things down, but they really do pay attention. My kids will eat just about any vegetable raw while I am chopping getting ready to fix dinner. Sean’s favorite is usually raw onion! Good thing he also eats the mint leaves off my plant, well good for his breath, not good for my plant!
Everything has sprouted except the peppers. The cabbages and broccolis are the biggest. Notice the leaning plants…always need rotating as they grow towards the sunny windows.
Notice Sean in the background, he helped water this morning and kept trying to get into my shots!
This isn’t a fun recipe post but rather some entertaining pictures of Sean decorating cookies. Tonight we had a pizza dinner at Ewan’s preschool. Afterwards the kids all got holiday tattoos, made a craft, played (that would be run wild for my kids) and decorated cookies.
I was the volunteer for the cookie activity and I must say it was quite entertaining. Each child got a bag with three sugar cookies and a small shot sized cup of frosting with a Popsicle stick to spread it. There were multiple bottle of sprinkles on all the tables. Needless to say I saw many cookies with LOTS of sprinkles. Many kids ate the extra frosting right off the sticks. Finally at the end I saw one girl pour sprinkles in the frosting and eat it! Frankly I expected one of my boys to try that!
Enjoy a few pictures of Sean….
Here are all the boys with Santa, plus Bethel the bear (Jack was super kid this week at school and has the class stuffed bear).
