I was recently at the grocery store and was appalled at how much processed junk food I saw in somebody’s cart as they walked by. One a positive note though, I did get a good idea. They had several boxes of pudding cups. In the past I have made pudding for the boys for their lunches or for when we go on picnics. It was time to make some again!

The Boys Decorate My Birthday Cakes

Watch out world, the Dalrymple boys are now cake decorators!  Ok, no need for professionals to worry about being replaced anytime soon!!  Not only was last Sunday Easter, but it was also my birthday.  Josh and I were out of town for our tenth anniversary and the boys stayed with my parents.  While there, they helped decorate cakes for my birthday.

We debated for a while, first about what cake I wanted.  I finally opted for the classic chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.  You just can’t go wrong with that.  At first we thought about jumbo cupcakes so the boys could decorate a few each.  They were determined to decorate my cakes.  Things didn’t work out as planned, frankly it turned out better.

Sweet Potato Chocolate Chip Cookies

So if I put a vegetable in a cookie does it make it healthy?!? In this case, I must confess no. This is not a healthy cookie. It still contains a good amount of butter and sugar. AHH, but the sweet potato does add a smidge of nutrition, beta carotene, fiber, vitamins A and C. All right, it doesn’t add much of this to the cookie, but boy oh boy does it make a super yummy treat! Continue reading
