Every Christmas morning we have brunch and some sort of bubbly cocktail. It started out as mimosas. Later it evolved into prosecco with pear liqueur or St. Germaine.

This year my brother was here for Christmas, a first ever. He introduced us to prosecco and framboise lambic (a Belgian raspberry beer).

Leave it to Nick to get me to drink a beer and prosecco cocktail! Ok, I do actually like a raspberry beer. It tastes more raspberry than beer.

What isn’t to like really, bubbly and raspberry?! This version is less sweet than just adding a raspberry liqueur. And I must say I actually like it better. Who would have thought!!

Blood Orange Ginger Fizz

As I mentioned in my last post this is the year we are embracing citrus season. This is the first year I’ve been able to find blood oranges locally (mind you they are from California).  Sean has developed a LOVE for blood oranges, frequently I’ll peel in the morning to pack in his school lunch.

My first memories of having blood oranges were when Josh was working in Italy back when we lived in Germany in 2005.  I made the trip with him a couple times and the hotel where we stayed has fresh blood orange juice every morning for breakfast.  It was so incredibly tasty. Continue reading

Elderflower Limoncello Prosecco

It’s back to school time and that’s reason enough for celebration!  Parents across the country are dancing in the streets as their children go back to school.  I told our principal I would try not to dance as I left the school last week until I reached my car, though there was a spring in my step!

Back when the boys were younger, even before elementary school or preschool I used to host a back to school playdate for our play group.  It was a chance for moms of school/preschool aged children to get together and celebrate the kids being gone either all day or just for three short hours.
