Last summer we had a new Kroger open nearby. Since it was summer break I had all three boys with me when I went to the grand opening. They quite enjoyed themselves, between all the samples and seeing many of their friends it was a fun day.
One of the samples they had was a cheese spread. It’s actually a local product that comes in many flavors. Ever since then Jack has been a little hooked! Continue reading →
We survived the first half week of school and now are in week two. I’m not sure who it was harder on, me or the boys. Last week Jack and Ewan were extremely cranky and tired after school which made my life miserable.
This week we are off to a better start. So far no after school meltdowns. Of course we have had some hiccups. Yesterday the boys were late getting home. Turns out their bus broke down and they had to change busses. This meant they walked in the house, put swim trunks on and grabbed a snack to eat in the car on the way to swim. Continue reading →
Long time no recipe post! This summer has been beyond insane. I am so ready for school to start up again. Swim has kept us extremely busy, more than I ever expected. Luckily my volunteering duties are nearly done. We only have the City Meet left and a banquet to plan. This week is our first week of no evening meets or practices. That’s right, all dinners at home!! Continue reading →
It is October, time for all the pumpkin goodies. As I mentioned in the last post I recently bought two baking pumpkins and couldn’t wait to get started. My first pumpkin item of the fall was this maple pumpkin butter.
Autumn is in the air and I absolutely love it! Our youngest, Sean, just celebrated his fourth birthday on the first day of autumn and we enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the mountains. It was his turn to be king and pick everything we did and ate. Needless to say he loved every minute of it all!
Among all the wonderful things we did was a trip to the orchard to go apple picking. For the second year in a row we went to Sky Top Orchard and had so much fun. In addition to all the apple trees we went through the bamboo forest, saw all the animals, played on the playground and had apple cider donuts. What glorious fall fun!
You just can’t go wrong with apples and peanut butter. It is a snack staple in our house. My boys like to just chow down on an apple, but of course sliced with peanut butter is extra special. If the boys had free access to apples we would probably go through at least ten pounds a week! I can’t fill the fruit bowl anymore because they eat them so quickly, I even find apple cores up in their bathroom trash can or better yet under their beds!
