It’s still pumpkin season, yippee! My favorite time of year. We go through granola phases and I had an epiphany last time I roasted some pumpkins. I was going to roast the pumpkin seeds and then realized we were in need of granola. Gee, think maybe we could kill two birds with one stone and put the pumpkin seeds right in the granola and roast it all together?!
Sometimes I amaze myself! Okay, so maybe I’m not the first person to come up with this idea. It did save me from an extra set of dishes and two rounds of pans in the oven though. I’m all for that. Continue reading →
It’s another month and time for a peek in my kitchen. I thought September was busy with both Josh and Sean having birthdays plus school, scout and swim schedules to contend with. We also had a water line break in the neighborhood resulting in mandatory water boil for drinking and cooking.
Then October started off rainy and dreary and I was unable to blog much since lighting for photographs was horrific. And then the Columbia Flood happened. Josh made it to work late this morning with one road closure detour. It is going to take a long time for the city to recover, but life is going on somewhat normal for us.
As a result of our scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner at The Biltmore Estate I have a new obsession, chocolate gingerbread with citrus. I had the most delicious chocolate gingerbread cake with a citrus cream sauce for dessert that day. I remember it fondly and have recreated those flavors a few times, the cake version to come soon once I make it again. Continue reading →
I must warn you, this granola is seriously addictive! It all starts with an innocent hand full. And then another, and another…until you have no idea how much you have really eaten. Not that I would know from personal experience. Okay, confession time. I came home from the gym yesterday and kept nibbling while taking pictures of this granola. I did just burn over 1200 calories so it can’t be too bad can it?!
My boys LOVE granola. They go through phases when that is all they want for breakfast. Jack likes it with milk. Ewan and Sean like it with yogurt. I like it with my Greek yogurt and blueberries. Josh likes it. Like I said, granola is popular in our house! Continue reading →
